Israelophobia: Does Criticism of Israel Go Too Far?
57m
In the Middle Ages, Jews were hated for their religion. In the twentieth century, they were hated because of their race. Today Jews are hated for something else: the nation state of Israel. That's the argument being made by journalist and editor of the Jewish Chronicle Jake Wallis Simons, who comes to Intelligence Squared on September 7 to argue that the line between criticism and hatred of Israel has been completely eroded.
Wallis Simons will argue that despite being the Middle East's most robust democracy, Israel attracts disproportionate levels of criticism – and he says that that criticism is often ill-masked bigotry. By charting the history of what he calls Israelophobia Wallis Simons will share his insights into this uniquely thorny topic.
